My Favorite Way to Shop!

A few months ago I sold about $2,000 in product through ebay. Since then, I've enjoyed purchasing product through ebay and craigslist. Here's some of what I've purchased through each site.
Ebay: bluetooth devices, phones, hard drives, water filters, etc.
CraigsList: Saxophone, electric lawnmower (I think that's all...)

Today I sold my kid's swingset for $10 on CraigsList.com as they have outgrown it. I was mostly interested to just get it removed from my back yard. I was surprised at the calls I started getting! And got even more after people started getting off work. I probably could have sold it for more than $10... but maybe next time... The cool thing is that I posted and sold the swingset all in the same day.

As I look for stuff on Craigslist, and as I sell stuff on it, I think it's important to list a phone number, provide a good description and pictures.
Below is what I posted.

My kids are too big now... This swingset includes a baby swing as well as a slide (as shown in the picture). It does not include a regular swing seat though. Call me to schedule pickup or if you have any questions, (817) xxx-xxxx. It is located in the Eagle Mountain area off of Boat Club Road. I plan on dis-assembling it and keeping all the parts for you so when you come to pick it up it will be ready to load-and-go!
Thanks! Update: Someone just called and inquired about rust and if the set is 'swing worthy'. I snapped three more pictures (see below) trying to show more information regarding the quality of the set, and yes, it is 'swing worthy' :-)

Now this is cool...

This is a very practical use of the digital picture frames that have come out in the past couple of years. I took the video from my phone at one of my client's offices in downtown Fort Worth.

Howdy Y'all!

I love demographics and census information. Check this out! DFW is a great place to raise a family.

The New Dynamic Architecture

Ok, I've seen some pretty cool architectural ideas but this is awesome. The first one to be built is in Dubai.

At the 4:00 minute mark it talks about how it produces its own energy... at the 4:58 mark it shows how the building is produced/assembled reducing the amount of onsite workers from 2000 to only 90, and the building time from 30 to 18 months!
This is great.

The New Cold War

It appears that it's on again... Last night on C-Span I watched an interview of Edward Lucas, British correspondent for the Economist magazine. It was fascinating. It appears that Putin, Medvedev and Russia itself are no longer allies of the West and of liberty.

Very interesting 10 minute read here should give everyone a general idea of current affairs with Russia. I tried to find a video of what I saw last night but to no avail. Here's the next time it will air.

Traffic Systems

I'm fascinated with systems of traffic, transportation, etc. specifically regarding the psychology (micro/personal) and the sociology (macro/social) aspects of it all... I found this today and loved it. I experience the 'shockwaves' in traffic. The sad thing is that I don't think that any one person can make a positive substantive difference but the only way for this to fix itself is for everyone to personally make the right choices. In this experiment no person is an island and anyone's bad choice/mistake affects everyone else.

Learning Guitar

Two Saturdays ago I went with Mark to Guitar Center in Arlington and we bought guitars. I got a nylon stringed beginner's guitar. I've always wanted to play guitar since I was a boy but the task of learning always seemed too daunting... now enter in YouTube! I've been taking guitar lessons and here's the one I'm learning right now:

YouTube is an awesome tool for learning and how-to's - I highly recommend it. I hope to start having lessons with a live human soon. I need to work on learning my chords and transitioning. My fret fingers are killing me!
